Privacy policy
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Your contributions: reviews, suggested edits, shop submissions and ownership claims (including the business phone number you give us).
- Technical data: your IP address and browser details, used for security and to prevent abuse.
- Searches: postcodes and towns you search for are sent to postcodes.io to find their location. They aren’t linked to your account.
- Your location (optional): if you choose “Use my current location”, your browser shares your approximate position. We round it to about 100 metres, look up the nearest postcode via postcodes.io and search from that postcode. We don’t store your location.
What’s public
Your reviews are shown with your first name and last initial. Published edits are shown in a listing’s history with the same display name. Your email address is never shown publicly.
How we use it
To run your account, publish your contributions, send you service emails (verification, password reset, moderation decisions) and protect the site from spam and abuse. We don’t sell your data or send marketing emails.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only, to keep you signed in and protect forms. Maps are loaded from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when map tiles load.
The sign-in, registration, password, account and contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks you’re not an automated bot. On those pages Google receives information about your browser and interaction with the page, and may set a security cookie. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Your rights
You can update your details or delete your account at any time from account settings. Deleting your account removes your reviews; edits already published remain but are no longer linked to you. You can also ask us for a copy of your data.
